Waited for the Stelvio Quadrifoglio to be released having been uninspired by the standard Stelvios I test drove. Then when the initial negative reviews came out about the many “mystery” error codes thrown off by the early Quadrifoglios I hesitated to jump in. As the negative press continued I waited until the price drops started. By May of 2019 the discounting peaked at $26K for the remaining Quadrifoglios around the country. I travelled to Chicago from Minneapolis to pick-up the vehicle of my choice in late May of 2019. I arrived with a Blue Driver so I could track error codes for myself....
Long story short, after one visit to the Alfa Romeo of Minneapolis Service Department to update the software and fix a minor pollution control issue, I just crossed the 8K mileage marl with NO additional fault codes or issues of any kind. I have concluded that the Stelvio Quadrifoglio is the best true sport utility vehicle ever! Certainly the best one I have ever owned.
My past SUVs include in order of ownership a VW Touareg (V8), Porsche Cayenne S, Audi Q7 (V8), and Porsche Macan Turbo. The Cayenne S and Q7 were both owned for many years. The 2008 Audi Q7 was great (drove it 150,000 miles) , but the 2013 Porsche Cayenne has had endless significant major mechanical and electrical issues. In conclusion the Stelvio Quadrifoglio has had fewer issues than the Porsche Cayenne S, and I am considering selling my 2017 Porsche Macan Turbo because the Alfa Romeo is truly a great vehicle. Just put Pirelli snow tires on it. Let it snow!
